Echt Mensch

For most of my 35 year career behind the camera, I’ve told the person in front of my camera the same thing that I was told when I was a kid. Stand up straight, laugh even when there was nothing to laugh about. The assumption behind that was that if we didn’t do that on camera, the picture wouldn’t turn out well. But somehow that didn’t work very often, and the more I dove into it, the more I asked myself the question: what if we stopped acting in front of the camera and just be ourselves? Wouldn’t we be much more beautiful then? In any case, we would be much more „ourselves“. That’s what I’m trying to prove with this photo project. If we no longer become anyone, but just be, then „we“ are real.
